Flying Fish Review: A Sophisticated Seafood Gem at Disney’s BoardWalk

Situated on the bustling Disney’s BoardWalk, the Flying Fish Restaurant is a culinary gem in the heart of the Walt Disney World Resort. With its sophisticated ambiance and menu showcasing the freshest seafood, Flying Fish offers a refined yet approachable dining experience that appeals to casual Disney visitors and seasoned food enthusiasts. Here’s a detailed look inside one of my favorite restaurants at Walt Disney World.

Atmosphere

Walking into the Flying Fish, you’re immediately enveloped by a sense of elegance with a hint of whimsy. The interior is inspired by the golden age of boardwalk entertainment, with a touch of Art Deco flair. The lighting fixtures are stunning, resembling fishtails and swirling waves, giving the space a dynamic yet cozy vibe. The open kitchen allows diners to glimpse the culinary magic in progress, adding an element of excitement to the atmosphere.

The Menu

The menu at Flying Fish is a seafood lover’s dream, featuring a variety of fresh catches and innovative preparations. However, it also caters to those who prefer turf over surf, with options like steak and chicken.

Appetizers

One of my favorite appetizers is the Lobster Bisque, a creamy and rich soup with generous chunks of lobster. Adding a touch of aged brandy added a pleasant depth of flavor. We’ve also sampled the Spanish Octopus, which is beautifully presented and paired with saffron aioli, crispy garlic, and shaved fennel.

Entrees

I’ve opted for the Seafood Trofie Pasta for the main course more than once. The scallops are expertly cooked and served with a delightful medley of shrimp, clams, mussels, and lobster in a delectable sauce. I have also enjoyed the Filet Mignon, which is cooked to perfection and comes with truffle risotto in a Perigourdine sauce.

Desserts

Dessert at Flying Fish is the perfect ending to an already outstanding meal. On one occasion, our kiddo got the S’more Time at the Beach, which can be seen below. It is a delightful creation meant to look like a beach. It’s cute and tasty!

Service

The service at Flying Fish has always been impeccable from start to finish. Our servers were attentive without seeming intrusive, offering detailed explanations of menu items and thoughtful recommendations based on our preferences. The pacing between courses was just right, allowing us to savor each dish without feeling rushed.
