Canon RP vs Canon DM-E1 vs Blue Yeti Nano - Microphone Comparison

Canon vs Yeti Microphone Comparison: Which Mic Sounds Best?

Check out this video comparing the sound quality between the Canon RP on-board microphones, the Canon DM-E1 and the Blue Yeti Nano.

Canon EOS RP Full Frame Mirrorless Camera

The Canon RP is a full-frame mirrorless camera with a variety of features. I used this as the baseline for this video comparison. Honestly, these built-in mics are pretty decent.

Canon Directional Microphone DM-E1

The Canon DM-E1 is a shotgun microphone that is perfect for recording audio during interviews, events, and conversations. Its shotgun design is perfect since it records sound from only one direction, isolating sound from background noise. It also has an adjustable sensitivity setting, allowing you to set the recording volume according to the volume of your environment. The DM-E1’s biggest advantage is its compatibility with DSLR and mirrorless cameras, along with its plug-and-play functionality. Also, it comes with a windscreen that prevents wind noise from interrupting the recording. However, the downside is that it doesn’t have a rechargeable battery, which means you have to replace the battery when needed.

Blue Yeti Nano Microphone

The Blue Yeti Nano is a high-quality microphone that delivers crystal-clear sound. This microphone has a USB connection that allows it to connect easily with computer devices, making it perfect for podcasters, gamers, and live streamers. It has two polar patterns: cardioid and omni-directional, meaning that it can record sound from one direction or in a 360-degree angle. Also, it has a mute button and gain control, giving you full control of your recording. The biggest advantage of this microphone is its plug-and-play functionality, meaning that you don’t need any drivers or software to install it. For this video, I used the 3.5mm audio out from the mic to the camera.
